Who are we?

UCAN (United Community Assistance Network) is a Community Collaborative focused on providing you, the residents of Greater Lorain County, with year-round access to emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities, or other emergency basic needs—at a single site geographically located in your neighborhood of residence.  

 

What do I need before I apply?

Please have the following available (if they apply to you).

  • Income Sources

    • Recent pay stubs

    • If applied, denial or approval statement from unemployment office

    • Monthly food stamps

    • Social security

    • Child support

    • Any other income sources

  • Overall Expenses

    • Rent

    • Electric

    • Gas

    • Water

    • Phone

    • Internet

    • Car payment

    • Food/grocery

    • Any other expenses

  • Information About the Crisis You Are Having

    • Bills you need help with

    • Documentation from your employer stating your dates of layoff and when you might return to work

    • Any other details you can provide

 

Should I apply more than once?

Please do not apply multiple times or to multiple agencies. Each individual agency covers specific zip codes—so if you apply to an agency outside of your own zip code, your application will just be forwarded back to the agency who covers you.
